Used & improved competences
Arduino Grove Shield - MAX - Prototyping - Future scenario explorations - Storytelling - User interaction - User experience - User testing
Centre of our attention
In this course, the focus is on exploring through very quick prototyping cycles. During the first weeks, you come up with a new (dystopian) future scenario every week and then build a prototype which you test that same day. The prototype should be provocative and immerse the participant as much as possible in the future scenario.
During these weeks, I worked on the software and hardware part of the prototype, as well as the storytelling and test set-up.
What we designed
During the last phase you spend more time on one final scenario and design. Our future scenario had mobility as a theme.
In 2050, the Lightway, a new means of transport, is introduced to the citizens of Rotterdam. It is a huge infrastructure, connecting the world like a metronetwork, where you can reach all important cities within 20 minutes.
This revolutionary technique creates new life styles. However, the discovery that it negatively influenced the human body, making cells age on every trip, created chaos. Mass protests arose when the government closed the Lightway, but when it re-opened again, they came with a security plan: before entering the Lightway you go through a physical check-up which estimates the impact of the trip on your body.
